GC57112 - M5 91 West (Városi, placed 15.6.2014)
#4859 12:39 - The first cache we've found on our way to Moldova. It wasn't the first we've tried - these motorway ones need definitely more care... TFTC!
GC5FHCV - TRAIAN VUIA (v@lybra, placed 26.10.2014)
#4860 17:13 - Unplanned stop along our route to Braila. And, unexpectedly, STF! Wow!
Although we came after museum's closing hours, guard noticed us walking around the window and let us go inside. Although almost everything was described only in Romanian, we understood, that Traian Vuia is one of aviacy pioneers, brave man like German Otto Lillienthal, Americans Orville and Wilbur Wrights or Czech Jan Kašpar. Really nice visit. TFTC!
GC2DZ8Y - Welcome to Brasov County - E68 (ka', placed 23.8.2010 by Brasov GC Team)
#4861 20:28 - Well, at last we've found it. Despite the confusing hint Kantor didn't giva up and discovered the cache behind something what, in some remote point of ancient history, could bear some inscription... TFTC!
GC5F13Q - "Public garden" park (virgil_t, placed 18.10.2014)
#4862 12:14 - The parks in eastern Romanian towns are very pretty, much more nicer then the rests of the towns. No wonder there is so many people here. And bit sad, too. TFTC!
GC5W3TN - Kosmonaut Square (TEAM NORGE, placed 24.5.2015)
#4863 11:38 - WTF?!? FTF!
Although we hadn't expected it, we were the first ones, who found this cache! Wow! When we looked at the pristine box we, at first, thought it's been just renewed. But looking at the untouched loogbook we knew - it was a genuine FTF! TFTC!
Hoti to jesmo ne očekivali, my byli prvi, ktori našli tutu keš! Ou!
GC4NA5Z - Mystic Yards (Roma Shka, placed 13.9.2013)
GC3XTXP - Rape of Europa (vva, placed 30.9.2012)
GC4K2Z7 - Mystery of the Castle (Roma Shka, placed 16.8.2013)
GC1480J - Odessa1 (neotryp, placed 9.7.2007)
GC5TD87 - Abandoned Factory (Ebon Hawk, placed 25.4.2015 by Ebon Hawk, b1ack_rain)
GC2CJ0J - Memorial Cache - Friedensgrund 2010 in Cretoaja (rxzp8, placed 30.7.2010)
#4870 21:18 - The last cache of this day, on our way to Chisinau. Found in a calm pre-evening mood, high above the surrounding country. Thanks.
GC5TKM6 - Cathedral park-Moldova (FisherMan(SVK), placed 1.5.2015)
#4871 23:26 - Unexpectedly easy cache in the middle of Chisinau, easily loggable even surrounded by roaming muggles. TFTC!
GC14KN9 - Orheiul Vechi (cometperson, placed 21.7.2007)
#4873 13:33 - The Old Orchei is a beautiful site. Well, the cache has been hidden on its least beautiful side, but it's balanced out by high adrenaline approach, carefully surrounding the guardian dog on long leash. Fortunately it was a hot day and the guard preferred laying in shadows above scarring cachers. TFTC!
GC35C52 - Tickellector (Dae-ekleN, placed 11.9.2011 by Dae-ekleN, toxicmd, ralienpp, scolobb)
#4874 15:36 - Nice walk allong the river after scenic drive through endless (well, almost) meadows. We almost gave up, mostly beacause we couldn't locate the exact postion of GZ, searching in about 50 m diameter. Then Kantor found a piece of garbage in a small cave and decided to clean it up. Wow - the garbage was the cache! TFTC!
GC2Y2BP - Saharna cache (lexmiir, placed 12.6.2011 by lexmiir, bumbu, Sava, Zarik)
#4877 20:52 - Locating the exact spot on this steep mountain side took quite a long time. Several times we though we were just few steps from there, but comming around a rock bend or some meters higher added tens of meters to the remaining distance. After descending from the cross on the promontory we encountered entrance into former stone quary and, nearby, also the cache. We didn't hesitate and "spelunked" the artificial caves. We can only recommend visiting this place. TFTC!
GC3EK3E - Accross the countries (LALA.eu, placed 22.4.2012 by LALA.eu, John Nash and Trevelyan77)
#4878 13:06 - One of many cache we've renewed/remedied during our tour through Moldova. Not then we didn't find it and placed our own box instead. We actually found remnants of the previous container. Don't think I'm complaining, we replaced it gladly. TFTC!
GC34DHM - The highest cache in Moldova (groula, placed 18.9.2011)
#4879 14:03 - Oh, what a wild country! It requires all the strenght of your 4x2 road car to climb up here! You cruise through savage meadows, pass by suspiciously calm wells and finally, almost surrendering the cruelty of cabbage (or beet?) fields you come there. Leaving your car parked on a lawn you carefully approach the widespread tree surviving the mild blows of summer breeze... and then... the cache is found!
Just a minute after departing back to Chissinau we met a compact tractor with trailer full of men with hoes - maybe they were going for the cabbage, I guess. Or beet, maybe. As I said before, wild, remote and deserted place is it! Thanks!
GC58H66 - Cricova Winery Cellars (Chehov, placed 9.7.2014)
#4880 18:15 - We already decided the cache was lost. Kantor went back to car for a replacement container, while we stayed by the wall and, not to get bored, continued searching. Kantor was almost back, when I found the original box, on a place as described, but about 30 or 40 meters to the left from the coordinates.
Well, as I was disappointed just a moments before, it pleased me! TFTC!
GC5X879 - Chisinau Czech Beer Event (kantor, placed 24.6.2015)
Well, we're here and stay an hour, maybe three. Come to see us, I'll buy you a beer, or two...
GC5X879 - Chisinau Czech Beer Event (kantor, placed 24.6.2015)
#4881 19:15 - We hoped somebody would drop by, you know, there is so little cachers in Moldova, but nobody showed up. Maybe we chose a too expensive pub, maybe we should have told, we would pay the beer. Hm. Never mind, maybe next time!
GC3X723 - Bender museum (TarkenCZE-Maso, placed 21.9.2012 by TarkenCZE-MasoMarťaHroudaskaLadislavLaskaMartinkaP)
#4883 11:57 - A journey back through the time, indeed. Looking for the cache we came by the entrance of the museum. We had no PMR rubles, yet, so we didn't planned to visit it. But three ladies, guardiäns of the establishment, told us it's free. We were admitted inside the first two carriages.
The interior was genuine communism-era like. Dark, makeshiftly maintained, somewhat cleaned and dusted off. The exposition show the fights in Bendery during bolshevik revolution and then World War II. The of the three ladies took care of us and guided us through, recommend this and that to look at. Mirek and Kantor just politely passed through and rushed out to continue cache search. But I got interested in some exponates - there were some ancient maps hanging on the walls - and I like old maps very much! Also there were some examples of clothes worn almost whole century ago. I asked some questions, praised the exhibition and as it was possible reagarded as compliments to the heroic past of local people, the lady asked me if I liked to see also the last, third carriage.
This one was locked. The third lady complained slightly (was she aware of possible imperialistic diversion?), but my personal protector told, that "молодой человек" (I'm 50 next year ) is interested in Bendery's history, and unlocked the door. There were memorials of fights between Moldovan army and local and Russian forces in the beginning of 90's. Bullet perforated helmets, crumpled pieces of iron, once artillery shells, T-shirts stained with blood. But mostly photos, newspaper articles and flags. Not so ancients as in the first two cars (and no maps! ) but strangely disturbing. It happened not so long ago and, well, I sided their enemy then.
Well, we haven't found the cache. But we found the only possible place where it could have have been and put a replacement container there. There is so little caches in Moldova and particularly in PMR. Thanks for the visit!
GC5AVWD - Last german village in the PMR (23Hunter, placed 6.2.2015)
#4884 16:31 - One of top hilites of our journey to Moldova (and PMR). Not being sure how to behave in such a strange "state" we hired a "local" tourist guide, who hired a local man with a car, and our expedition from Tiraspol to the remoted once German village could begin.
Hiring a guide payed off. Not far from the cache hide lives one of the last, if not the only one, of the local inhabitants of German origin, and our guide arranged meeting with her. The lady speaks Russian, of course, and some strangely sounding German dialect. As we all knew and understood Russian quite well, we could listen to stories of her life and that of her family. It started in 1939, just before the WWII...
If you come here, I recommend you to do it the same way as we did. Not only it will be safer when travelling through the country (I mean safer when meeting authorities, there are no other dangers here), but meeting the locals is an experience you'll remember for long. Thanks for the cache!
GC2367C - Nistru Meanders in Soroca (NinjaCacher!, placed 20.1.2010 by Luzian)
#4885 11:58 - For years I wanted to visit Moildova and see the Dnestr canyon. When I was a child, I saw on TV a Soviet movie about some yound people living near the river who where divide, when feudal Romania ripped off Moldova from the rest of "Russia". Forget the ideologic manipulation, there were amazing pictures looking above the river's valley flowing down bellow between its steep banks, with Sun setting in the far. Well, here, near Sorocca, the Nistru is lazily menadering along gentle hills covered by grass. But I saw the canyon like vale down the stream, near Saharna and Tipova.
Thanks!
GC5BGVY - Die Quelle (la Izvor) (AVM-Tirol, placed 19.8.2014)
#4888 21:14 - Wonderful place in the middle of grass. We came quite late, this time in summer there was the Sun high on, well, just on, the sky.
The container was lost. It happened not for the first time in Moldova. There is so little caches here and most of them is missing or requires maintenance. So we were prepared. We looked carefully arround trying to find a spot, where muggles won't look at. But, who knows? If you are sitting all the day by the spring, watching grazing cows... There is a lot of time to get bored, to fight the boredom, to look at everywhere.
As this was the last cache we found in Moldova, I would say, we couldn't choose better. Bye, bye! Thanks.
GC3EVAW - Welcome to Satu Mare (ionuttatar, placed 18.3.2012)
#4889 20:40 - The last cache we found on our journey to Moldova. Passing through the mountains and entering the plains we knew, we'd manage to return on time, so we could make short stop and pick a cache. But then hurry, hurry, back to the car and keep on going home. TFTC!
