18.8.2010 GC1ZRWE - Via L. Cadorna (cadorna, placed 11.10.2009)
#815 20:43 - Well, found, but not by me, but by my nephew Waaal. Well hidden, indeed!
Grazie per la cache!
19.8.2010 GC2A1G1 - Il castello e il parco di Miramare (Nordiko&Elena, placed 4.6.2010 by Martino&Elena)
#816 12:16 - This place is a must for every Austro-Hungarian loyalist! Beautiful gardens, nice castle and memorabilia of an prominent member of our deposed imperial house.
Grazie per la cache!
19.8.2010 GC20V8J - Trieste: Castello di San Giusto (Trollmond, placed 20.10.2009)
#818 20:25 - [We came to San Giusto at the beginning of nightfall. We could see the city below, the sea in distance, the statue at the edge of the piazza, the remnants of the ancient forum, but the darkness was slowly approaching and the street lamps lit one after one...> No, that's not true, you know it well. They were already lit, when we came there. But it sounds me nice. [The cache was well hidden, nevertheless easy to find.
Thanks for the cache!
20.8.2010 GC16EG9 - Karst ridge 1 (emunda, placed 5.10.2007)
#819 12:26 - I visited this beautiful place with my sister, her children and my daughter. Actually this place was chosen by my muggle-sister (when it happens and we have a common holiday, it's always better to follow her wishes ) and it was well chosen. The way from the ridge, overlooking Trieste and its bay is really nice. The only imperfection was, that the restaurant with castle was closed due to holiday.
Hvala za cache!
20.8.2010 GC164DN - Last Dance (lumanima, placed 22.9.2007 by lukamanca)
#820 13:28 - Impressive church. After all these years the paintings are so vivid. At first it appeared, that we could only look around without any explanation (we were offered no audio guides as our compatriots in May), but then a bus full of American tourists arrived, so we could share detailed audio recording in English with them. I was especially interested in the glagolitic inscriptions in the middle of the left wall. To my amusement they say something like "We've repaired the floor here."
Hvala za cache!
21.8.2010 GC103E - Prvi Geocache v Sloveniji (Team Humuhumunukunukuapuaa, placed 29.6.2001)
#821 09:11 - First I'd wanted to go for this cache on the evening of August 20th. But I left too late and without a flashlight and when I saw the slope (I came from auto-camping below) and the dark forest surrounding the path, I gave up. The next day I awoke earlier that the rest of our "expedition" and without any hesitations started for the cache. It was quite summer morning and the temperature was pleasant, yet. I quickly found the cache and to my pleasure I learned, that there is a lot of various statues around. As I walked through the exhibition, I slowly remembered that the day before my sister had wanted to visit some open-air statues gallery, but we could't have to find it. Voila!
Hvala za cache!
21.8.2010 GC1XNRB - Piran (matajur, placed 24.8.2009)
#822 15:42 - Another hot day in Adriatic. After (very, very slow) walk through the streets of Pazin we finally came to the cache hide. Although there was a alot of muggles around, I could look for the cache safely, because all of them looked out to the sea.
Hvala za cache!
21.8.2010 GC1M88N - Sveti Toma / Vižinada (puzz, placed 31.1.2009 by Marina & Tomo)
#823 15:42 - After very short visit in Vižinada (I expected, that there definitely had to be a wine shop there, but we were not able to find any) we (me, my sister and my nephew) made a short hike from parking up to Sveti Toma. The view from the top was marvelous, especially at Motovun, though the tree were a little bit "overgrown".
Hvala za cache!
23.8.2010 GC2176B - Limski Fjord - Limski zaljev (feuerkugelbaron, placed 20.11.2009)
#824 17:07 - The problem with traveling with muggles is, that you can't stick too hard on your geocaching targets. So we could visit Limski fjord (because there was a view to the ria), but not Romuald's cave (because it was too far and we wouldn't manage to visit Dvigrad - a recommendable visit, actually). I'd like to spend more time here, but, you know, the peace in the travelers group is an valuable asset.
Thanks for the cache!
23.8.2010 GC23180 - Pazin Cave / Höhle von Pazin (Lichtbote, placed 17.1.2010)
#825 19:40 - Ach, I took completely wrong way to "logging point". At Pazin castle I parted with my muggle relatives agreeing on meeting at Lovac parking and went to the right, up the hill hoping to find path going down. Soon I was in the highest point and came to Lovac parking. (!) Only here I found the descending path... So I went down and then up the same way, which I hate a lot.
Nevertheless, the way was beautiful (down and up), I only regret it didn't lead me to the cave's entry. I was there at the beginning of dawn, the air in the ravine was already wet and chilly and it was very comfortable after the just passing hot day.
Thanks for the cache!
24.8.2010 GCYB4C - Istrien.Info 01 - Vrsar (Lena Czerni, placed 12.9.2006)
#826 16:23 - It was possibly the hottest day during my holiday in Istria. The Sun burned from the middle of blue cloudless sky and the air shimmered almost everywhere. I started my search for this cache in the port and went clockwise. Well, not the best way I could choose, again.
Finally I passed the top of the hill and entered the quarry replacing its summit. The deserted area in the center of an tourist destination surprised me. And then I spotted the statues scattered sparsely all around, at the edge of a fracture, on the rock face or just among rocks left here after. Beauuuutiful.
The coordination weren't too accurate, so I enjoyed going up and down the rocky slopes. I wondered whether my high pressure is high enough to die instantly or whether it'd be the dehydration... But I survived and eventually found the cookie-less cookie box.
Hvala za cache!
25.8.2010 GC1VA1K - Amphitheater Pula (snowsurfer, placed 29.6.2009)
#827 15:16 - The amphitheater is wonderful, though on this hot day I felt no desire to go inside. Especially when we saw the most of it while walking around to the cache (we had parked in Scalierova street - sparing several Kunas always worths for cruising the streets looking for a free parking slot for free, you know ).
Although the cache was hidden in quite muggled place, there were enough time to find it (well, for a cacher the hide is visible at first sight) and putting it back.
Hvala za cache!
25.8.2010 GC1X9TZ - K & K Marinefriedhof Cementery (HarryHurtig, placed 1.8.2009)
#828 18:53 - After exhausting and exsweating stroll through Pula we came to this embracing calm place, for the cache of course. Because our home once was another part the former Danubian monarchy, we looked at the gravestone looking for Czech names and wondering if we'd find somebody with our surnames (Roztocil and Valášek). But either our ancient relatives were the happier, surviving, ones or they hadn't served in K&K Marine or we simply missed them.
Hvala za cache!
25.8.2010 GCKPY6 - Yacht1 (Kristor, placed 3.10.2004)
#829 21:13 - There was already dark night, when we came here. The children (20, 20 and 17) opposed the idea of leaving the car, so only me and my muggle-sister suffered the way through the thorny scrubs up the hill to the cache. And so only we were rewarded by the night view from the summit, over the peninsula and the bay, to distant lights of villages and towns.
Hvala za cache!
26.8.2010 GC265W3 - Premantura Sunset (pathfinder_grz, placed 1.4.2010)
#830 18:53 - Well, we didn't came at sunset. But it was good for us:
- I doubt, that I would find the cache at night.
- In the dark we wouldn't notice the fig tree full of ripe fruits (approximate coordinates attached, approach from SW).
Hvala za cache!
26.8.2010 GC1TDDE - Kamenjak Sandy Beach (Silberschakal, placed 7.6.2009)
#831 19:23 - Nice place and easily accessible cache (at least for a 194 cm guy). I really enjoyed walking the path on the edge of the mud "cliffs".
Hvala za cache!
26.8.2010 GC137T4 - Seestern-Starfish (HarryHurtig, placed 27.5.2007)
#832 19:44 - Unexpectedly hard to find cache. We searched all the surroundings, the rocks, walls and shore, but finally it was somewhere else. Nevertheless as we were here near sunset, the ambiance was wonderful and we enjoyed this place. Hvala za cache!
26.8.2010 GC13H7M - Kamenjak Land`s End (zyn.zyn, placed 8.6.2007)
#833 20:06 - We choose the place of this cache for watching the sunset, but it was wrong decision. At this part of the year (and possibly to whole summer) the Sun sets behind a low peninsula, so you can see sinking it into the sea. But the views from here are beautiful, we could observe motor boats returning from late trips and lighthouse on an islet in distance. Hvala za cache!
26.8.2010 GCHATV - Peninsula (uranjek, placed 1.11.2003)
#834 20:35 - Came here about half an hour after the sunset a there was completely dark all around. With a flashlight we (me and my sister) managed to pass through the scrubs and find the cache near the mysterious tower. Then we visited the (mysterious, again) observation platform and admired the Moon rising above the sea. Hvala za cache!
27.8.2010 GC1TXG0 - Bunkercache (jugenddiakon, placed 19.6.2009)
#835 11:11 - The last cache of this years's holiday in Istria. A bit unplanned - in the morning I woke up and felt, that I was not good. I urged to return home a day earlier, and it happened so, thankfully. In the morning I still hoped I'd be well, so I tried this cache. But I wasn't well... So I couldn't to enjoy it the way, I'd would normally enjoy a visit of military bunker. Hvala za cache!
